Artist:
Jen Garrido is inspired by shapes found in nature, which she transforms into delicate artworks in watercolour and acrylic. The LA-born artist holds an MA degree in Fine Art and has spent time as an art teacher.
"A delicate balance of choice and process guides the construction of my paintings. In response to personal narrative and internal dialogue as well as to the push and pull of each composition’s internal gravity, I build each work intuitively, shape by shape. I am drawn to forms that tangle or overlap; that sit, lean and lay. I like the idea of stacks, collections and piles and creating the illusion of a sculptural space. Each choice is dictated by previous ones, as I gradually build each painting, using a personal vocabulary of both colour and form".
